Howe 1324 and 1344 Setup
Before any recordings can be started, each of the classrooms must be opened and prepared for the rest of the day. These instructions will teach you how to setup the Howe 1344 (ISU5) classroom.


Preparing for the First Class of the Day

1. Pick up the room keys from the control room and a microphone with charged batteries.

2. Unlock the door and enter the room.

2. Turn on the light switch next to the entrance.

3. Turn on the three monitors suspended from the ceiling. The power switches are located on the bottom right of the monitors.

4. Turn on the light switches next to the projector’s screen.

On the Instructor PC...

5. Open the Desktop Presenter and minimize.

6. Open new page in Smart Notebook and minimize.

7. Open Mozilla Firefox.
  • Click on the appropriate Adobe Connect link on the bookmarks toolbar and login as ede@iastate.edu
  • Enable the Microphone, Webcam and Speaker.
  • Start sharing for both the Webcam feed and the screen.
  • Adobe Connect should automatically minimize after you share the screen.

8. Leave a blank piece of paper on the desk, under the Document Camera, to establish the White Balance.

9. Perform the white balance from the control room.
  • Switch to the Camera 2 input so you can see the video feed clearly on Wirecast.
  • Use the left joystick to focus the camera on the white paper on the instructor’s desk.
    • Move the joystick left and right until the picture becomes clear
  • Adjust the contrast using the middle two sliders above the joysticks and press the Auto White button for the camera.
  • Perform the same steps for the other two cameras.
    • Use the zoom and tilt of the camera to adjust the proximity from the white balance.
